Our Story

"The Coles"

Cole and Nicole both grew up in Kansas City. Although they went to brother/sister high schools (Rockhurst and St. Teresa's Academy), they met at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.

The KC community at Creighton is strong, especially for incoming Freshmen. Nicole had made friends with many of Cole's KC turned Creighton friends. However, it wasn't until October when the two met.

Nicole was working out (try not to laugh at that one) and ran into Cole's roommate at the gym. They decided to hang out afterwards with their respective roommates. That's when the two met. Nicole remembers looking over at her roommate Megs (after leaning over her very lofted freshmen year bed to shake Cole's hand) and giving her the "look."

Soon after that, Cole and Nicole, and their group of friends, became pretty inseparable. Nicole, Megs, Cole, and Caleb would often stay up into the early morning hours having fun, but would also attend Mass together regularly. As you could imagine, the boys frequented the girls' room, coming up with just about any excuse to "stop by".

Nicole's parents soon noticed that there was a very tall boy that somehow always found himself next to Nicole in all her Facebook photos. Although his eyes were usually closed he always had a big smile on his face.

Since then, Nicole and Cole have grown to be best friends, boyfriend/girlfriend, fiancées, and soon husband and wife.

They've enjoyed meeting each other's friends and (very large) families. Although Cooper (Cole's younger brother) did not acknowledge Nicole for their first 2.5 years Cole and Nicole were dating, Cole and Emilie's (Nicole's younger sister) bond over making fun of Nicole was almost instant. Family is something very near and dear to Cole & Nicole, a quality they both love about each other. They've traveled to Canada to meet Nicole's mom's side of the family; where Cole was warmly greeted with cheek-kisses, Canadian accents, and stiff drinks. They've also traveled to Iowa to see Cole's Dad's side of the family, and see Cole's cousin Caitlin Clark play basketball for the University of Iowa, and they've made many trips to Omaha to see the Nizzi clan. Cole and Nicole are looking forward to traveling to Morehead, KY to see Cooper play football this fall. Cole can't escape the Blanck Family as 99% of us reside in KCMO - he loves every second of it ;)

They're especially grateful for the relationship they have with Nicole's grandfather. When Cole proposed, he made sure there was enough time to go see Nicole's grandpa in-person to tell him the news. Nicole and Cole also enjoyed the "bonus time" they got with their parents when they each moved in with their parents in April of 2020. They wouldn't trade that time with their parents for the world! It also allowed them to save up all their pennies from their jobs post-graduation which they used to buy their first home recently in Prairie Village. They LOVE it!

Cole & Nicole are looking forward to their next chapter as a married couple and are grateful for the role that each and every one of you have played in their lives and relationship.
